Paper Plate Crafts

Paper plate crafts are practical for large groups and young children. These crafts can be for nursery school and pre-k and some of the crafts can be for kindergarteners as well.

This first paper plate craft is a paper windsock for Halloween. It can be decorated with any halloween shapes. You can use pre-cut foamie shapes, or you can cut out bats from the template.

Wind Sock Decoration

This wind sock is a great decoration for a child's room, the playroom, or the kitchen. Place it in a space where the children can enjoy looking at it and be proud of what they made.

Supplies Needed

white paper plates

scissors

crayons, markers, or paint

foamie halloween stickers, or cut-outs of bats, black cats, flying witches, etc.

craft glue (glue stick or white glue)

yarn, narrow ribbon, or fishing line

Directions

Color both sides of the paper plates as desired (one color or many colors).

Cut the paper plate in a 1 inch spiral but leaving a 1 inch circle when you get to the middle of the plate (see photo above).

Glue the desired decorations at random along the spiral of the plate.

Punch a whole in the center circle and add the yarn or ribbon making a knot to hold in place. Dab a small dot of white craft glue on the knot and plate to hold it in place. The fishing line is what we used. It is very light and it didn't pull on the paper plate.

When the glue dries the windsock is ready to hang.

Party Craft Project

Making this paper plate windsock is an easy craft to make at birthday parties with a group of children. It makes a great take-a-way and one they will enjoy for quite a while.
